ALL ABOUT ME

Personal Commitment

Growing up in a Christain household, I was always taught to help others in need. While attending high school ministry I remember partaking in Feed My Starving Children. It was definitely an experience to remember. One that wanted me to replicate the need of helping someone in a more personal manner and one I believe I was capable of doing.

As a child, I was always surrounded by the variety of technologies. I wanted to take part in making history and create something inspiring for people who enjoyed playing video games as much as I do. One day in high school, there was a college presentation from various schools across the state. None of them had any courses regarding those in the gaming industry other than the University of Advancing Technology.

I decided to enroll in UAT to pursue my dream of making memories for people through video games. Unfortunately, after being exposed to the reality of it I decided it wasn’t for me. It was too competitive in nature and many things you make can either be turned down or altered. Creating games is something I want to take my time in doing and make it my style as much as possible. I decided to change majors into something that still involved technology. That is when I came across Network Security. Though not many people know of the impacts or practices it has on their everyday lives, it was something I knew was important for our society.
At first, I wasn’t sure if it was the right decision to make. I would see it advertised heavily in my surroundings and openings were always becoming available. I started to question if this was just a decision I made to make up for my first semester. As time moved on, I got to experience more of the field and it finally clicked with me in a computer forensics class. Here was where I found my purpose in Network Security. Something I never really discovered before was my interest in mystery and solving the problems and finding out their purpose. When researching the current status of Network Security, I realized just how much people can use the internet in unjust ways. One that really stood out to me was when a hacker poisoned the water resources of a local city. Although it was discovered before anyone was hurt by it, I realized that Network Security wasn’t just another field of study, but one that can also save lives. Network Security allows me to not only protect people’s valuables/lives but can also help defend our country through the simple use of a computer.

With different skills in Network Security, engineering, computer forensics, identity protection and personal security, systems administration, and virtualization I want to help create a better and safer online environment for everyone. Hackers target people from all age groups and backgrounds for their own selfish needs. I want to help protect people and I’m prepared to help make a difference in Network Security.
